1. Who We Are
TechStart For Kids is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 93-1815159) providing AI literacy and hands-on technology education to underserved youth ages 8–16. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and how we protect it — especially when it belongs to children.
2. Donor Data Confidentiality
We treat donor information as strictly confidential. Personal details shared when you give — such as your name, email address, and donation history — are used only to process your gift, issue tax acknowledgments, and send communications you have requested.
- We never sell, rent, or trade donor information.
- Donor records are stored on access-controlled systems provided by our strategic technology partner, Kline IT Solutions.
- You may request a copy, correction, or deletion of your donor records at any time by emailing info [at] techstartforkids [dot] org.
- Anonymous donations are welcome; we publish donor names only with explicit permission.
3. Payments Handled by Stripe
Online donations are processed by Stripe, Inc. When you give, you are redirected to a secure Stripe Checkout page protected by TLS encryption and PCI DSS Level 1 controls. Your full card details are entered on Stripe’s infrastructure and never touch TechStart For Kids servers or staff. We receive only your name, email, donation amount, and frequency so we can provide your receipt and support.
4. Corporate Hardware & NIST 800-88 Sanitization
When a business donates retired laptops, desktops, or networking gear, we collect the submitting company’s name, contact email, equipment inventory, and notes — solely to coordinate logistics and issue donation receipts. Every storage device we receive is sanitized in accordance with NIST SP 800-88 (Guidelines for Media Sanitization) before the hardware is redeployed to students. Any residual data on donated equipment is destroyed beyond recovery, and chain-of-custody documentation is available on request.
5. Youth Privacy (COPPA)
Protecting the privacy of children is central to our mission. In line with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):
- This website does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
- Program registration is completed by a parent, guardian, or school — never directly by a minor.
- We collect the minimum student information necessary (name, age, guardian contact) to deliver services safely, and we never publish children’s photos or names alongside identifying details without written guardian consent.
- Parents and guardians may review or request deletion of their child’s information at any time.
6. Spam Protection (Cloudflare Turnstile)
Our forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which runs a human-verification check using limited technical data (such as browser signals). Turnstile does not target advertising, and no captcha data is used to profile children or donors.
